About .MullenLowe’s "Octo Bold TTF” is inspired by the octopus’ fluidity and adaptability, characterized by the rounded shapes of its twisting tentacles. The typeface was born out of the combination of two polar opposites within the design spectrum: The organic, fluid tentacles converge with the straightforwardness of a classic serif. Each letter twists around itself but stays grounded by the weight of its base. The negative spaces were composed around and inside the letters with the same intention as the parts the eye can see, mirroring the intricate nature of the tentacles themselves. Every letter exhibits a singular construct, in a manner that no other letter replicates those exact curves, even though they respect general rules of angles and pivots in order to obtain a cohesive family output.
